Your thumb can be in front or behind the bar. For the most part it’s not going to matter where it is located. I usually try to hook grip over the strap just for the sake of consistency. They wrap the same way for pull ups. I try to show it in the video, but just to reiterate the point notice that on the sliding straps the tail runs down the pinky. If it’s on backwards it’ll run down your thumb instead.

I use lifting straps on my back day for deadlifts, pulldowns, shrugs, and rows. I lift HEAVY (state champion and record-holder for the powerlifting federation I compete in), and the 1.5 in. wide cotton lifting straps that I use for my last sets cut into my wrists to the point of lacerations sometimes, and heavy brusing all the time. My brother who is an amature bodybuilder uses some 2 in. wide longer canvas lifting straps and says they still dig into his wrists a bit when going heavy on shrugs and deadlift. Are leather straps any better than cotton, or canvas lifting straps? Pros and cons of each please. Also, will the leather or canvas "grip" the bar as well as my cotton ones do? Thanks in advance.
Have you tried Versa Gripps?
They’re padded around the wrist and leather the wraps around the bar. I’ve never used cotton grips, but these definitely grip the bar.
I got ‘em to be able to keep deadlifting with tendinitis in my wrist. The work great (although I’m certainly not lifting nearly as much as you are!)
She’s had way more than a face lift. She gets her lips done too. She isn’t very secretive about getting nips and tucks here and there. She does look horrible along with Priscilla Presley, Courtney Love, Melanie Griffith, and Meg Ryan. They all need to stop.
I do curls and various types of pull ups but my hands seem to give out before my muscles do. I’m looking for a nice pair of gloves or wrist straps that could help out with that. Would you recommend wrist straps or gloves? and why? Thank you 
My boyfriend weightlifts and he uses gloves called new grip, which have a wrist strap so it supports your wrists as you lift as well. He says they are really good and I know another couple of people who have used them also who said they are great. Here is a link to their website. Hope this helps.

We are moving and we have a 3 seater sofa. Can I use the u-haul furniture dolly to move it ? My plan is to put one side on the dolly and lift the other side and push. Did someone try that or any other suggestions ? No stairs in start or destination .
The last answer made me update this question. Do we use a Utility Dolly (the one used for Refrigerator etc) instead of Furniture Dolly
I did. i just bought a ratchet strap at home depot or lowes and put a piece of cardboard between the dolly and the couch so it wouldnt stress or tear, then put it up lengthwise, and rested the arm of the couch on the foot of the dolly and ran the strap around the middle of the couch and through the back of the dolly, cinched it, and wheeled her up three flights of stairs solo.took a bit of sweat, but if you dont have friends (new to the area) then theres really no other choice. and by the way, most dollies are rated for over 200 lbs, if you have a couch that weighs more than that, ( and ive never seen one that does) than you need help anyways.
