Lifting Straps

0 Lifting Strapshttp://LegendaryStrength.com – When you reach a certain point of progress and start moving some serious weight, the first part of the body which will need some help are your hands. The muscle in the back and legs are much larger and even with strong hands, you’ll still benefit from using lifting straps to keep up with the progress. It’s even more important to use them if you are just about to increase the weight in a particular workout, in order to prevent injuries and protect the most vulnerable point – your hands.

The straps in the video are from IronMind.com and they are pretty cheap, but high quality.

What are some physio exercises i can do at home for a fractured 5th metatarsel?

I fractured my 5th metatarsal on the 21st of august and i have had surgery on it and have been in a cast and back strap every since. I went to the hospital and got the cast taken off for good 5 days ago. the metal inside my foot and the scar doesn’t hurt, but it is my ankle that hurts more. are there any exercises i could do at home to help my foot/ankle fully recover?

To get flexibility and strength back, you need to extend the ankle. For now, find something to hold onto with both hands so that you can keep your balance easily. Start with both feet flat on the floor and then lift up onto your toes. Hold that position for a few seconds, then lower back down to the floor. That will help with the initial strength. Once it starts to show improvement (it shouldn’t take too long) then I would suggest either stairs or something that allows you to step up and down like a cinder block. The muscles in your calf will build up nicely if you use those two exercises.

When it comes to lifting your foot upwards, there really isn’t much call for strength in that movement. Just sitting watching TV, you can pull the foot upwards, hold for a few seconds and then let it relax. As long as you can lift it up so that it’s not dragging when you walk, that’s all you really need to do.

For the side to side movement, that one doesn’t really need too much help. As long as you’re walking and using the stepping motions, the small muscles that stabilize your foot for side to side movement will build up on their own.

I would recommend Advil while doing this. After taking off a cast, exercise will leave the area sore for a while. If your ankle is a bit sore while walking, use a simple Ace Bandage to wrap around the ankle once or twice. It doesn’t seem like much, but it helps a lot. I shattered my ankle years ago, and while it was healing (and even now on bad days) the loops add a lot of strength and balance. Don’t be in too much of a hurry to get it back to full strength. I’ve broken tons of bones, and they can take a long time to heal. If you think you have any nerve damage, take a B complex vitamin with dinner each day and it will greatly speed up the nerve regeneration. Considering that it’s a metatarsal, you probably don’t, but I thought I’d add that just in case.

Professional Lifting Harness: Ideal for the person who will be moving objects on a daily basis. Warehouse workers, appliance installers. Vest is fully adjustable.
SKU: 3500HD. Category: Professional, Systems.

STEPS TO ENSURE A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL LIFT Using the Pro Lift System:

1. Your Pro Lift Shoulder Dolly includes two fully adjustable vests with attached metal buckles called Tri-Snaphooks. Both partners should put the vests on and adjust it to their body size.

a. Clip the side release buckle together located near your sternum. Adjust the buckle up or down on the yellow piping. It should align near your sternum.

b. Adjust the metal Tri-Snaphook buckles so that they lay near your hipbones, below your stomach. Do this by pulling on the 2″ webbing located on the shoulder strap.

c. Clip the metal Tri-Snaphook into the 5″ metal tension buckle. One Tri-Snaphook will clip into each side of the metal buckle. The 5″ metal buckle needs to have the large metal rod

d. Each time to put the Pro Lift vest on, make sure you adjust it to your body size..

2. Place the 12′ long lifting strap under the bulk of the weight of the object you wish to move. You can either tip the object and slide the strap under, or if the object has legs, you can slide it under from one side. The strap should be under the majority of the weight — Eg: place towards the back of a couch.

3. Position your body into a semi-squat by bending your knees — the deeper you squat, the higher the item will be lifted. Keep your back in an upright straight position, don’t lean toward the object.

4. Weave the lifting strap through the 5″ metal tension buckle — Start with webbing going under the buckle, then weave behind the larger metal rod, then over the top and thread between the two rods. Pull the webbing through the buckle until tight.

5. To adjust the length of strap — turn the buckle horizontal to the ground, then pull the short end of the strap to make it tighter or the long end to make it shorter. When the buckle is vertical, the buckle will lock and allow you to stand up with the product being lifted off the ground.

6. Adjust the length of the strap so that when you stand up, there is some tension on your shoulders. If one person is taller, then they’ll have more webbing from the floor to the buckle than the shorter person.

7. There may be excess webbing after you lift the object. To ensure that you don’t trip over the excess webbing, tie it around your body, or tuck it into your pants.

8. With straight arms, push against the object you are moving (VERY IMPORTANT!) this will keep your back in proper ergonomic alignment and put the weight of the object on your legs and shoulders.

9. Simultaneously you and your partner need to push against the object with your arms until they are straight, and slowly straighten your legs — balancing the object with your arms.

10. Communicate at all times with your lifting partner.

TIPS:

When you are not using the Pro Lift, you can clip the Tri-Snaphooks to each other behind your back.
To go up or down stairs, the product you are lifting must be at least 10″ off the ground in order to clear the stair. To achieve that height, you and your partner will need to go into a deeper squat and adjust the webbing — that way the product will be lifted higher into the air.

What was the name of the F250 built by Ford for use by the government for off-road patrol?

I heard of this truck on TV. It was lifted from the factory, with heavy-duty tires and wheels. It was built for the government for border patrol, I think. Does anyone know the name of it?

Most of the Border Patrol’s vehicles are heavily modified before they go into service. In 2000, Ford supplied the Border Patrol with a half-dozen F-350 Super Duty pickups modified with aftermarket components for severe off-road capability. General Motors and DaimlerChrysler also supplied modified prototype pickups.

In addition to a heavy duty suspension system, the F-350s are modified with a climate-controlled detention box mounted on the truck bed. Rebound straps that protect the nine-position adjustable shocks from fully extending in airborne situations and a kit that allows for 29-inch river fording capability, are among other safety modifications. The vehicles also are equipped with law enforcement surveillance and military-type radio equipment.

"The Border Patrol needed a pickup that would run at high speed on literally no road, so we outfitted the F-350 with aftermarket racing components like those found in Baja racing," John Vukovich, program manager, Ford Export Product Engineering.
