This training module gives an overview of the primary rigging issues that affect crane and hoist safety. Workers will learn about the materials used for rigging and slings, the various sling hitches used, and basic safety precautions. It is based on OSHA General Industry and Construction regulations, as well as recognized best rigging practices. It is also aligned with the 2010 OSHA regulations that require riggers in the construction industry to be qualified.

This video shows how I sew suede line leather rifle slings on a walking foot sewing machine. The machine is a National 300N, which is very similar to a Consew 206RB. I am using #138 bonded nylon thread and a #22 (140) leather point needle. The motor is a SewPro 500GR servo motor, with built-in 3:1 gear reduction and a 2″ pulley. The total thickness is almost 3/8″ where the tail joins the body. This machine can sew up to 7/16″ under the pressor feet.
